EFT student eases his wife's suicidal thoughts

Important Note: This article was written prior to 2010 and is now outdated. Please use my newest advancement, Optimal EFT. It is more efficient, more powerful and clearly explained in my free e-book, The Unseen Therapist™.  Best wishes, Gary

Hi Everyone,

Can an EFT student handle something as serious as suicide thoughts? Apparently so, as Alex Lees submits this letter from an EFT workshop participant. Note how a few minutes of EFT collapses the previously intense suicide thoughts. Also note that this is not a license for unskilled EFT'ers to "go where they don't belong." Much can be done with EFT regarding suicide tendencies but professional assistance should also be sought under such circumstances.

Hugs, Gary

Gary:

Below is a letter I received from a participant that attended our EFT Level 2 workshop last month.  I think it might be inspirational for other EFT’ers to read.  I am very happy for "Tom" and although he thanked me for the training he received at the workshop, I wrote and told him that I "Thank You."  He was the one that took the learning out of the workshop, applied it, and applied it in a very difficult circumstance.  Tom and EFT get the credit.

Hi Alex:

Just a quick note to let you know about one of the successes I had doing EFT.

My wife is Bi-Polar and can be very suicidal in a down swing.  Most of the time it is controlled with drugs, she takes five drugs daily, as well as the psychiatrist has her on three hormone treatment creams.

She came to me in tears the other night saying it was all she could do to stop from taking all the drugs in the cupboard.  We were both really worried as the last time she was that suicidal it lasted for three weeks, and the doctors were going to commit her to the hospital.  Fortunately it lifted the day she was scheduled to see the doctor!

Anyhow, I tried to break her state but it didn’t help, so I asked her if she would let me practice on her.  She said OK.

I asked her where she was intensity-wise and she said a definite 10 on a scale of 0 to 10.  I asked her for a phrase that described how she felt, and we put together this phrase.

Even though I want to take all the drugs in the cupboard and I want to end it all…

Then I did two rounds of tapping.  I asked where she was and she said her intensity was a 7 out of 10.

I did a psychological reversal saying, Even though I still want to take some of the drugs and end it all…I then did two rounds of, End it all.

I had her take two deep breaths and asked her where she was now.  A funny look came over her face and she said, "I don’t know."  I said, "Good enough."

Her whole countenance had changed.  She had a good night's sleep, and in the morning I asked her how she was and she said, "Fine."

That was a week ago.  What a difference!  Thank You for your training.

Tom
