Surrogate EFT used to calm down a bi-polar client

Important Note: This article was written prior to 2010 and is now outdated. Please use my newest advancement, Optimal EFT. It is more efficient, more powerful and clearly explained in my free e-book, The Unseen Therapist™.  Best wishes, Gary

Hi Everyone,

Here's a fascinating case by Baerbel Froehlin wherein surrogate EFT is used to calm down a mentally disadvantaged man. Note the language used and how the result occurred even though the man was many miles away.

I cannot begin to point out what huge positive differences some of my clients have experienced with people or events that seemed hopeless and beyond any improvement.

This case is about “Anne” and her husband “Billy.”

Billy suffers from Diabetes, is an Alcoholic and Bi-polar.  He has extreme ups and downs, often unpredictable and aggressive behavior.  His explosive outbursts can happen anytime, depending on how his life goes.  He is a teacher for disturbed kids and has to deal with anger tantrums, emotional and even physical abuse on top of violent behavior from his teenage students every day.

Lately his moods are greatly influenced by how difficult his day in school will be; Anne (his wife) never knows in which emotional condition he will be in when coming home.  Because he suffers from diabetes, his blood sugar will shoot up and make things worse.  In the past Billy has shown totally uncontrollable, frightening rage outbursts when in difficult situations.

One day Anne called me very upset, telling me that Billy had a road rage experience, where some guys in the car next to him tried to push him off the road.  That escalated into a scary confrontation, where one of them pointed a gun at him through Billy’s window.

We could only imagine how full of rage, fear and aggression Billy must have been before he finally got away.  He called Anne to tell her the whole story, ranting and cursing in his best mode as usual.  Anne wanted my advice for how to handle this situation; she was very afraid that he would cause all kinds of disturbances on his job.  He is known for being arrested because he wouldn’t stop raging in the past.  She wanted to know if I could do an emergency session with Billy as soon as he came home.

SURROGATE EFT was the only thing I could think of.  Billy was out there somewhere unreachable.  Anne was scared out of her mind of what could happen if Billy didn’t calm down.  Here is what I suggested for her to tap on:

I’m Billy … and I’m freaking out!  Those bastards pointed a gun at me ... and I can still feel the shock of that moment in me.

I’m Billy … I feel like I could kill them all … those idiots in that car … pushing me off the road … who the hell do they think they are?

I’m Billy … and even though I still feel my blood racing in my body … and my heart pumping like crazy … I know that I need to calm down … at least a little bit.

I’m Billy … I can breathe deeply now and start to relax … just a little bit … relaxing feels good … I am going to feel better … right now.

I’m Billy … and I choose to detach from what happened … I start to feel more safe right now … and I choose to calm down some more … things will be okay again … and I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself right now!

Anne called me later, telling me that a surprisingly contained and calm Billy had called her from his job.  He talked calmly and without his usual outrage.  All Anne had been afraid of did not happen that day!  We even forgot about the planned emergency session for Billy; he was well enough without it.

Love and peace to all!
