Curse words aid the clearing of emotional issues

Important Note: This article was written prior to 2010 and is now outdated. Please use my newest advancement, Optimal EFT. It is more efficient, more powerful and clearly explained in my free e-book, The Unseen Therapist™.  Best wishes, Gary

Hi Everyone,

Here's brief, but important, thought from seasoned EFT'er Ted Robinson. You may wish to use it when you are stuck on a stubborn issue. After giving a useful example he says, "While I'm not advocating the use of curse words just for the sake of outrageousness, they do have a very legitimate purpose sometimes and are very useful to access certain emotions that aren't otherwise available in a more sterile language environment."

Hi Gary,

During the last few Borrowing Benefits Groups I've run, I've noticed that it was very important to use the words (including curse words) offered or used by the participants.  I've also noticed that the use of curse words, although uncomfortable to some members, seems to bring up all of their emotions much better and hence, bring about deeper clearings of their emotional issues.

Most notably, during my last group, one participant, a certified social worker counselor came because of a need to work on her own stuff.  As a result, we worked on her heritage issues and how they related to her being a woman in a male dominated culture and how much she resented it.

By the time we were in the heart of the entire issue, she was yelling "Fuck You" to her brother and mother at the top of her lungs.  The rest of the group was doing exactly the same with the same gusto.  It was loud and uproarious and highly emotional, but the fact is, they all seemed very engaged and they all proclaimed how well their various issues cleared immediately afterward.

While I'm not advocating the use of curse words just for the sake of outrageousness, they do have a very legitimate purpose sometimes and are very useful to access certain emotions that aren't otherwise available in a more sterile language environment.

My best to you,

Ted Robinson
