Hi Everyone,

Christine Hines from the UK helps her skeptical, engineer friend dramatically reduce his asthma attack. She says, "When he called me back, Alan was laughing and totally incredulous.  He couldn’t believe how good he was feeling.  His breathing was great.  He had completely left behind any feelings of the attack.  Apparently he had run up and down the stairs several times to test himself."

Hugs, Gary

Dear Gary,

Recently an article appeared in your newsletter about EFT being used effectively to help with an attack of asthma.  It reminded me of an incident some months ago when I was able to offer EFT over the phone to someone who was in the middle of an asthma attack and who was very worried at that time about his medication not working.

I have a very dear friend who has suffered from asthma since childhood.  Alan (not his real name) is an engineer by profession working in the power industry and he was a true skeptic where EFT was concerned though he was always very kind and listened when I told him of some of the ways in which I had been able to use it.  However, he never saw the time coming when he would want to try it even though he also suffered a degree of claustrophobia which affected his personal and working life.

One day we were going to meet and go for a walk.  However Alan called me from his home to say he wasn’t going to show up because his asthma was causing him some difficulty and he would have to stay at home and wait to feel better.  I was unaware at that time that he had taken his usual medication and it was having no effect.  We agreed to talk later.

A few moments after putting the phone down I asked myself what I was doing.  I was sure I could help as long as he was willing to give it a go.  So I took the chance and called him back even though Alan had, in the past, said it was not something he would really consider.  Fortunately my friend agreed to try EFT and so we worked over the phone.  Up until that time Alan had no knowledge of where the tapping points were but it’s quite easy describing the technique over the telephone.

We tapped on the all physical sensations he was experiencing at that time.  As we were tapping I realised that Alan was actually very worried about this particular attack … though he was the last person who would ever show his feelings.  So we tapped on the anxiety and also on his concern that EFT would not work for him, especially over the phone.

As we were tapping I ‘heard’ Alan’s speech changing and sounding very subtly more relaxed.  I could hear him starting to smile.  And he laughed.  We tested his breathing capacity and it had improved by a remarkable degree (his description).  He felt so much more relaxed.  We then agreed he should test himself with walking up and down the stairs, wait for a while and call me back.

When he called me back, Alan was laughing and totally incredulous.  He couldn’t believe how good he was feeling.  His breathing was great.  He had completely left behind any feelings of the attack.  Apparently he had run up and down the stairs several times to test himself.

It was then he told me that he had taken his medication as he had become aware of the attack starting. But the medications had not had any effect and this had been extremely worrying.

That day we didn’t do the walk we had been planning but we did meet and Alan looked more relaxed than I had ever seen him looking before.  He said he was amazed with EFT and now admitted to being convinced of its benefits, though he would still like to know exactly how it worked.

Since that day, Alan has used EFT to address various situations, mainly at work, where he was challenged previously by feelings of claustrophobia and also during times of business-related stress.  In fact, whenever he realizes he is feeling stressed or anxious he no longer accepts those feelings as factors he simply has to accommodate.  He says to himself, “Now what would Christine say?” Then he taps.

As far as the asthma is concerned, EFT has given Alan a new confidence that he has a tool which he can use to address any future possible attack.  Therefore he’s more relaxed about the asthma and maybe that’s one explanation for the relatively few incidences he has experienced since that day, and their comparatively minor nature.

My logical friend who previously needed a scientific explanation for anything he accepted into the workings of his life has now taken EFT onboard wholeheartedly.  He accepts that maybe we just can’t quite wholly explain EFT as yet but it’s worthwhile because, hey, it works and the evidence is there!

It just keeps on working! Thanks, Gary.

Warmest wishes,

Christine Hines
