An ill cockatiel suddenly started eating during surrogate EFT

Hi Everyone,

Diane Nicholson from Canada brings us another remarkable EFT recovery story. Before doing EFT, she says of her cockatiel, "He had diarrhea, wouldn't eat, was extremely lethargic (closing his eyes often), and sat fluffed up, trying to maintain his body temperature."

Hugs, Gary

By Diane C. Nicholson

I started practicing EFT recently, for an acute condition I was experiencing, with considerable success. Since animals have always been a large part of my life and family, it was logical that my interest in EFT would lean toward surrogate tapping for them.

Recently my 14 year-old cockatiel, Simon, became suddenly very ill; of course on a Sunday. I drove him a considerable distance the next day to an avian vet, knowing that birds go downhill very quickly.

He had diarrhea, wouldn't eat, was extremely lethargic (closing his eyes often), and sat fluffed up, trying to maintain his body temperature.

The vet examined him, could find nothing obvious, and suggested that the best course of action would be to perform a full blood panel and x-ray. She wanted me to leave him there, in an incubator, to be crop-fed (force-fed with a tube straight into his crop), while waiting for the results. The guesses were everything from infection to organ failure, especially since he is considered elderly.

Not only was this option exceedingly expensive but I wasn't comfortable leaving him, knowing he'd be very stressed by being separated from his family. So we compromised and I came home with a broad spectrum antibiotic and some infant parrot formula.

Simon was placed in a small room which was equipped with a space heater, allowing the ambient air to stay at a very warm 85 degrees. Although I force fed him hourly, I was aware that I wasn't able to get enough food into him to keep up his body weight, let alone add the necessary additional ounces. His lethargy was intense, with barely a peep when I picked him up for feeding. It was clear that he would have to start eating on his own in order to heal.

The first day was spent just hoping he would still be alive every time I went to him. When there was no change on the Tuesday, I decided to give EFT a try. "What the heck," I shrugged. "It can't hurt." So I set up the process as I surrogately tapped on my Karate Chop point:

I, Simon, feel very ill and do not want to do anything. However, I do wish to get well so I can go back to my regular life, playing with my favourite dog and budgie friend. In order to do that however, I have to start eating. Only by getting the proper nutrition will my body be able to heal itself. But even though I'm not hungry and don't feel like eating, I still fully and profoundly love and accept myself.

I tapped the EFT points and repeated, I, Simon, need to start eating in order to heal. About half-way through the tapping, I was distracted as Simon reached down and started picking up his food. Now, that was impressive.

There was no more force-feeding Simon. Although I had tried twice to give him the antibiotics, he'd gasped and wheezed each time to such an extent that I realized he was telling me that they weren't necessary or wanted.

Within two days his recovery was complete; he was back with his friend the budgie, and playing with his 18 year-old canine buddy. He has been completely healthy since and is as active as when he was young.

No doubt there are some who would cry, "Coincidence!" But for me, it was only one more experience with EFT which had me shaking my head in wonder and appreciation.

Diane
