Hi Everyone,

Read this article by Moira McFadyen from Scotland for EFT hints about eliminating credit card debt. This is an interesting use of EFT and was successful even though the approach was somewhat global. While reading Moira's quality article, see if you can pick out areas where addressing specific events may have generated even deeper results.

Dear Gary,

In these days of the "credit crunch" I thought it would be good to share with you my experience of using EFT to help one of my clients get rid of her credit card and become debt free. We began by examining her relationship with her credit card and what she felt were the pluses and minuses of having one. We then tapped on:

Even though my credit card is like a millstone around my neck, I hate it but I can't get rid of it, nevertheless...

Even though I hate having a credit card I need to have one for emergencies, it's my safety net and I can't get rid of it, nevertheless...

Even though I love having a credit card, it's my best friend, it allows me to buy things when I want them, I love having a credit card, nevertheless...

Even though I hate having a credit card, it's keeping me in debt, borrowing from my future and a millstone around my neck, nevertheless...

We then re-explored why she couldn't cancel her card. The only reason she gave at this point was that it gave her the security to go home to Australia if her parents needed her. She could use her credit card to buy her ticket on short notice. However on examining how much credit was available on her card she admitted that there was never enough available to buy a ticket to Australia. Here again was a false reason for keeping the card. So we tapped on:

Even though I think I need this credit card to help me to go home when my parents need me, I know that's not true, it's stopping me, not helping me and nevertheless...

We then did several tapping routines on reinforcing her willpower to cancel her card and become debt free. These included phrases such as "Cancel my credit card", "Free myself from debt", and "Stop borrowing from my future".

After this I asked her "Okay give me your instant reaction, don't think about it. Do you need a credit card?" To this she replied immediately with a big smile "No I don't!".

She emailed me the next day saying that she felt like a weight had been lifted off her. She told me that she had gone home shredded her credit card and phoned the credit card company to ask them to cancel her card. Now all she had to do was pay it off the balance.

Six months later she has paid off her debt and is still credit card free.

Best wishes,
