Spider phobia relief as a side benefit

Important Note: This article was written prior to 2010 and is now outdated. Please use my newest advancement, Optimal EFT. It is more efficient, more powerful and clearly explained in my free e-book, The Unseen Therapist™.  Best wishes, Gary

Hi Everyone,

With EFT we often get unexpected, positive side effects. We don't know the "why" of this (yet) but certainly enjoy these benefits when they come.

Chrissie Hardisty's recent client gives us a glowing example of that phenomenon. He comes in for depression and, along the way, has substantial relief for a spider phobia EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO DIRECT TAPPING FOR IT.

Hugs, Gary

Hi Gary,

Last week I just finished my fourth and final session with a 21 year old client, David. He came to me with severe depression and has had to quit University because he could not cope with everyday life. For the past few years he has tried almost every anti-depressant available, to no avail. His mother died when he was fourteen and there were a lot of aspects connected with that. Initially, I did a lot of cognitive work with him and then introduced him to EFT. During the sessions we worked with a lot of his problems which I won't detail here as this is supposed to be about Phobias!!! He was also able to use EFT himself on his problems as they arose.

Last week he returned, so very, very much better and is now looking forward to the future. Just before he left he said, "By the way, my father is totally amazed that I'm not afraid of spiders any more". I briefly questioned him about this and he told me that up until a couple of weeks ago he would freak out if he was in the room with a spider, however small it was. He could not even bear to see one on the TV or even a picture of one. This has happened so many times before with clients that I just said, "well, there you go! - isn't this stuff amazing?" and didn't bother to ask anything else. Believe me I still am "wowed out" whenever anything like this happens, don't know why on this occasion I just took it for granted.

However, today, whilst talking to a friend she asked, "did he tap on the fear of spiders or did it just clear up of its own accord whilst he was tapping on something else?" I had to admit that I didn't know, I hadn't asked. She pointed out that you were looking for case histories for the website re: phobias so I said that he hadn't come with a phobia but then realised that this might be pertinent.

So, I decided to ring him to find out what happened. He said, "No, I didn't tap on the spider thing. I saw a small one in the bathroom and didn't have the same feeling about it. I felt I needed to put it out of the house and was able to pick it up and throw it through the window. I still felt a bit funny inside but I did something I have never done before, my father was amazed."

Possibly he still needs to do some work on "feeling a bit funny inside" but that was something that cleared whilst working on his other problems.

Luv and wishes,

Chrissie Hardisty
