Nurse had a fear of taking blood samples

Hi Everyone,

For a nurse, taking blood samples is usually a routine part of the job. However, one nurse found it very challenging and had developed a fear of the procedure. Fortunately, Louise Peyton from the UK applied EFT to this nurse and resolved the problem.

At work in my part-time nursing job, a colleague (Billie) was asked to take blood from a patient.  This is not an unusual request. However, this nurse had lost her confidence and felt quite afraid of the procedure, telling me how she did not want to do this.  Of course I offered her some EFT.  Billie’s main issue was fear of failing to get the blood successfully.

After a little chat we started tapping:

Even though I have this fear of taking blood…

Even though I have been trained to do this and I have taken bloods many times before, I’m OK.

Even though I’m afraid the veins will collapse…

Even though the last few times I tried, I could not get any blood, I’m afraid this will happen again.

Even though part of me knows how to do this I still have this fear.

Even though I have this heart pounding feeling, I’m OK.

Doing a round on these with reminder phrases, Billie started to feel a little better.

Even though I’ve been taking blood for years, I now feel really nervous, I’m OK.

This fear of taking blood,

Fear of those veins collapsing,

This heart pounding,

Letting this go now.

Allowing these feelings to go

Feeling anxious,

Letting this feeling go,

Allowing this feeling to go,

Feeling confident,

Finding veins easily

Finding good veins

All those easy veins,

Blood flowing easily now,

I enjoy taking blood,

I’m relaxed now,

I choose to feel confident

I choose to feel relaxed and calm now

I feel relaxed when taking blood.

I can take blood easily

I enjoy taking blood.

After a couple of rounds Billie felt much better and actually said she was looking forward to the procedure.  You can see from her testimonial below how successful this proved to be.

“Having recently received an EFT session from Louise with amazing results I wanted to share this experience with anyone who may be contemplating trying this therapy.  I have been a nurse for 20 years and recently I seemed to have suffered what can only be described as a ‘mental block’ when it came to taking blood.  A task I had always enjoyed all of a sudden became terrifying.  I was unable to perform this.  Louise offered me a taster session of EFT when I told her of my anxieties and the result was truly amazing.  Within 20 minutes of Louise’s session I was effectively able to perform the task again successfully.  It really was amazing.  I had got to the point of approaching my seniors to request re-training as it seemed to me I was totally unable to perform this relatively simple procedure.

Louise has a lovely demeanor and instantly puts you at ease.  She is friendly and she has a real gift for alternative therapy that really needs to be experienced to be understood.  Billie Roberts RMN (Registered Mental Nurse)”
