The Stairway To Miracles

Science or Senses?

"We are babes crawling on the floor of the Universe"

Gary Craig logoThe above quote is from my friend and Stanford scientist, Dr. William (Bill) Tiller. It reflects how little we know about our true existence and how much we have yet to learn. It also reflects our "innocent arrogance" in thinking that our every day senses lead to any meaningful truth in this regard.

That's a BIG mistake.

Being a bit of a Stanford scientist myself, I thought I would describe some clear, undeniable science that we are choosing to ignore simply because our senses (erroneously) report differently. In each case, we have a choice. Should we believe our science or our senses? Read on and choose for yourself.

#1 - Our senses detect very little of our reality:

The well-known electromagnetic spectrum (high school science), for example, stretches from ultra-violet to infra-red. The tiny amount of it that our eyes see, however, is known as the "visual spectrum." The rest of it is outside of our awareness. For perspective, if the electromagnetic spectrum spanned the distance from San Francisco to New York (approx. 3,000 miles), then, by comparison, the visual spectrum would be about the length of your arm. The rest is completely lost to our everyday senses. All that information is GONE. Yet we ignore that vast unknown in favor of what our tiny senses report. So which should you believe...

Science or your Senses?

#2 - Atoms are 99.99999999% space:

I learned this in high school in the 1950's. Atoms are the building blocks of everything physical and each one consists of a nucleus with some electrons floating around it. By comparison, If the nucleus was the size of a basketball then the nearest electron would be a few miles away. Yet our senses report these atoms, and the physical things they produce, as dense items, most of which we can neither walk through nor see through.

Something is wrong here.

If atoms are almost entirely space then we should easily be able to at least see through them. But can you see through a wall, a tree, a body, etc.? So which should you believe...

Science or your Senses?

#3 - All atoms are connected, separation is impossible. There is only a grand Oneness:

This comes directly from our pristine scientists who reflect the astonishing findings of quantum physics. This has been known (and proven scientifically) for many decades. Yet just about everything our senses perceive appears to be separate from everything else. There are seemingly multitudes of separate things in this world, including billions of separate bodies. Yet, according to quantum physics, this is impossible. So which should you believe...

Science or your Senses?

#4 - Scientists have found at least 11 dimensions to our reality:

Yet our senses report only 4 (height, width, depth and time). The rest is completely lost to our awareness.

So what's involved in the other dimensions? Might this include the ability to transport ourselves without cars or airplanes? A blissful existence without having to lug around bodies? The answer to world peace, poverty, disease, and death? Yet they are beyond the ability of our senses to detect and, to this extent, are lost to us. So which should you believe...

Science or your Senses?

Our senses dominate:

It is tempting, of course, to default to a belief in our senses rather than give weight to the opposite findings by science. In fact, that's what we do. Our senses dominate. They are the principle sources of what we seem to "know" and thus, despite all the seeming problems along the way (including death), we find ourselves dancing to the drumbeat of our senses.

So why is this?

Why do our senses contradict science so radically and why do we favor them over science? To me, that involves a theological debate which has echoed throughout time. Being both a scientist and one who has experienced the Oneness of a profound spiritual experience, I see us as versatile spiritual beings who have chosen, for now, to believe into existence a seemingly separate world; a world with senses that report our limited individuality rather than the grandeur of our unlimited natural state... Oneness.

I realize this contradicts much of conventional thinking. But if everyone thinks conventionally, then we are destined to stay in the same place and repeat our mistakes indefinitely. If anyone has a better explanation, please let me know.

There are ways out, of course, and new vistas await those who venture beyond the limits of our senses. This is where The Unseen Therapist shines. Learn to communicate with Her. This will generate trust and new skills... and open doors you didn't know existed.

e-hugs, Gary
