Creative reframing: Satan to God

Important Note: This article was written prior to 2010 and is now outdated. Please use my newest advancement, Optimal EFT. It is more efficient, more powerful and clearly explained in my free e-book, The Unseen Therapist™.  Best wishes, Gary

Hi Everyone,

Margo Arrowsmith, a newcomer to EFT, shares with us a creative combination of the Palace of Possibilities and a reframing affirmation. You will see this in the second paragraph where the client claims that Satan was writing on her walls. The reframing affirmation put the focus on God instead of Satan and the issue resolved immediately. Beautifully done.

Hugs, Gary

P.S. Using reframing during the Setup (psychological reversal correction) phase is something I introduce and demonstrate profusely throughout our advanced tapes (Steps toward becoming The Ultimate Therapist).

Dear Gary,

I have a patient that I have been working with for 3 years. A lovely woman, I could call a open-minded fundamental Christian. We had just gotten a #4 sinus headache down to a #1 (Knowing her I think it started higher than four and probably ended up lower than one, but she can't admit to pain or to feeling better). She could feel it coming back (which we tapped about) but also was able to say that she could feel her body fighting feeling better. I know her history, but even just from this she has a VERY bad case of psychological reversal.

We then worked on her feeling about wanting to run from the room (a constant for her for the time I have worked with her). But she couldn't do the affirmation, "I totally and profoundly accept myself even though...." because, to her, it was a lie and lying is wrong. I talked to her about her walls (thank you for the Palace) which was filled with messages about her being shit, etc. ad nauseum. I asked her who wrote them and she said, "Satan". I suggested we write over that with what God would say. That was better. Then I suggested the affirmation. "I totally and profoundly accept God's creation even though I want to run from the room." This she could say and in one sweep we got the ten to a zero.

She says she is very skeptical and of course the good news is that doesn't matter. She does, however, insist she probably felt better temporarily because I "distracted her with the tapping". I am smiling fondly in remembering this.

Gratefully yours,

Margo Arrowsmith, CCSW, IfCM
