Hi Everyone,

This concise article by Karen Oliver gives good insights about what to do when EFT doesn't appear to work.

Cheers, Gary

By Karen Oliver

I have suffered migraines since I was 13 and am now 40.

When I first used EFT on migraines I just tapped for the pain and at first found no change at all. One night in bed I was kept awake by the throbbing pain of a migraine and, determined not to take strong medication prescribed for me, I took myself downstairs and proceeded to tap on everything that came into my head.

I started with "Even though I have been rushed this week..." and then went on through three quarters of an hour of different set ups the ones of which I remember were

"Even though I have no time for myself, I choose to be calm and chilled""Even though I feel helpless against this migraine...""Even though I feel out of control....""Even though I am not perfect.....""Even though I worry about not being able to get on when I have a migraine..."

I just went on and on consistently on everything that popped up in my head. I would say the intensity on a 0-10 scale started at about an 8 and it came down to about a 2.

The final set up was "Even though I feel guilty about not having quality time with my family...."

For me this was the key to my migraine and unlocked the pain and took it away completely.

Although I have tapped on others it doesn't come home to you how amazing and effective EFT is until you do it on yourself. I felt fantastic and now understand so much more about how my migraines progress. When I get a migraine my state does change dramatically and when I managed to get rid of it with EFT my state was instantly lightened like a large weight being lifted from me.

The other benefit of course was that I did not take the heavy medication which means I did not receive the side effects that go with it. I now use EFT for prevention as soon as I notice any negative emotion slipping in during a day, I go and tap on it to stop the build up of negative emotion that contributes to having a migraine. With migraine, and probably any headache, prevention is better than cure!
