Hi Everyone,

Many of our emotional issues show up as metaphors that come from early childhood events. Bringing these to the surface and dealing with them is one of the delightful EFT skills that seasoned practitioners develop. Listen in as Frederick Keebler takes us on a quality ride through such an issue.

Hugs, Gary

By Frederick Keebler, Ph.D.

I have been doing complementary healing practices for over 12 years.  Four years ago I was introduced to EFT.  Since then, I have used EFT for a wide variety of issues ranging from deep fears to back pain.  But by far my strangest case, is this ghost story.

Last year my wife and I started working with students with learning, academic, testing, and self image issues.  My wife had been working with a fifth grade student that was having a problem with her multiplication and division facts.  After completing the multiplication and division work, she checked the girl's addition and subtraction facts.  Much to her surprise, the girl knew only a few facts and was unable to learn anything more than very low number sums.  My wife tried the normal learning strategies with no success.  She then came to me for my opinion and I said, "It sounds like a non-academic issue.  After all, she is a student that gets mostly 'A's in other subjects."

At the next session I joined my wife at her request.  While collecting background information, we discovered that the girl's mother had died in a motor cycle accident when she was in the first grade, and that she was moved from one family member to another until she came to where she lives now.

I began asking her for more details about her life, but was totally unprepared for the rest of the story.  She told me her mother appears to her every night in bed, and she can't fall asleep without her guardian in the room. "My mother scares me, that's why I need someone with me."  At that point I thought, 'oh boy', never in any of my training in energy medicine, homeopathy, hypnosis, NLP, time line, or EFT had anyone talked about ghosts.  Then I remembered what Gary Craig always says, "Try EFT on everything."  So I did, and here is the rest of the story.

I started by using NLP (re framing), to defuse all upcoming events.  I asked her, "Hasn't your mother always been there for you?" She said. "Yes."  I asked, "Can you ever remember a time when she did anything to hurt you?" She said, "No."  Then I asked, "Don't you think the reason she appears to you is to help protect you?"  She said. "Yes."  After some additional discussion and some future pacing (an NLP technique for determine how a person would act in a future situation), we started using EFT for her fears.

We began by using the KC point for 'The Setup'.  Each round consisted of tapping all the standard points using the following affirmations:

Even though I am afraid of mother appearing to me...

Even though I feel responsible for my mother's death...

She felt responsible because her mother had asked for her permission to go on the motorcycle ride, and she said yes.

Even though I am angry at the boyfriend...

Even though I miss my mother so much...

Each of these took many rounds to get her to a level of intensity of 0 on a scale of 0 to 10.  I use 0 for no feeling and 10 for the most intense.

During the entire process, I kept two principles in mind.  The first is one I learned from my NLP trainer, Tad James, and since adopting it, it has helped immensely.  The principle is, "The client is a being of light and is magnificent and can change.  There is only a little that needs to be done and they are going to totally get it, and they will be totally great."  The second principle is that I need to work with the client where they are in their mind without judgment.  In this case, whether the girl really was seeing a ghost or not was irrelevant.  My job was to work with her where she was, and to help remove 'blocks' to her learning.

After completing the rounds of EFT for her fear, and with no other work, she could do all of her addition and subtraction facts.  The following week she reported that she could now sleep without an adult in the room, and her mother's ghost no longer was 'scaring' her.

In closing, I would like to repeat what Gary always says, "Try it on everything."

I wish everyone the best and remember "All is well!"
