"Rainbow Bridge" tapping when you are grieving a lost pet

Hi Everyone,

This touching article by Suzanne Zacharia of South Africa introduces a unique poem into the EFT process. It should be of major value to grieving pet owners. Suzanne says, "EFT is the one tool that finally helped me move on. What I did, as well as addressing specific events, was to simply read the poem whilst tapping on all the EFT points that I could think of at the time."

Hugs, Gary

Hi Gary,

I have been moved to write after reading an article in your newsletter about pet grieving. This is something very close to my heart, as I have grieved several pets, dearly beloved companions. As we get older, this is a natural part of life for us pet lovers.

A poem known as "Rainbow Bridge," author unknown, was a great source of solace to me before EFT. Every now and then the need would arise, and I would read it again and sob uncontrollably for 10 minutes or so. After a while, I would feel a bit better, and it allowed me to carry on.

After EFT, there are no uncontrollable sobs; only a few tears as I tap in loving memory of lost ones. I must clarify that I am usually the one who cries at all weddings, I cry at romantic films, and I even cried at the Care Bear Movie. I cry with joy or sadness at the drop of a hat. It's just part of me, and it is not an over-reaction for me. Uncontrollable sobs, however, are an over-reaction for me.

EFT is the one tool that finally helped me move on. What I did, as well as addressing specific events, was to simply read the poem whilst tapping on all the EFT points that I could think of at the time. I do not mention the specific events here because they have now faded in my memory. There was no need for the Setup, as the tears (a release) started as soon as I looked at the poem. I believe it has all aspects of grieving in it, and it also refers to those specific incidents very gently and compassionately. Without further ado, here is the Rainbow Bridge poem.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author Unknown.

I now recommend Rainbow Bridge tapping to anyone who has lost a beloved pet. In my mind, there is no need to measure your level of intensity for this one. Practitioners who have asked me also report that it helps them with their pet-loss clients, and I often use it somewhere in the pet grieving EFT session, especially for tapping homework after the session. I hope this gentle tapping brings peace to those who have a friend on the other side.
